About the area
For a golf trip to the Costa Brava, start by deciding whether you want several rounds at one club or a stay that takes in different municipalities. This area of Girona province, in Catalonia, has 12 clubs listed in the guide, with a choice of 18-hole courses, nine-hole golf and pitch & putt. Accommodation and practice facilities offer another way to narrow down your base.
Build your trip around the golf
Camiral, in Caldes de Malavella, has two 18-hole layouts, the Tour Course and Stadium Course, both designed by Neil Coles and Ángel Gallardo. Club de Golf Costa Brava, in Santa Cristina d'Aro, also offers two 18-hole choices: the par-70 Recorrido Verde and par-73 Recorrido Rojo. Either club lets you vary your rounds without moving to another venue.
For individual 18-hole courses, consider Pals, Sant Julià de Ramis and Figueres. Golf de Pals plays to par 73, while Golf Girona and Torremirona are both par 72. Serres de Pals provides a nine-hole, par-36 alternative.
Pitch & putt adds further options to the itinerary. There are 18-hole layouts at Gualta, Castelló d'Empúries and Mas Tapiolas in Santa Cristina d'Aro. Mas Torrellas, also in Santa Cristina d'Aro, has nine holes, as does Pitch & Putt Mas Nou at Club Golf d'Aro.
Choose a base for your rounds
Santa Cristina d'Aro has the largest number of clubs listed in the guide, followed by Gualta and Pals. Grouping your rounds by municipality is a useful starting point when planning travel between venues.
If you would rather stay at a club, Camiral, Empordà Golf Club and Torremirona all list hotel facilities. Camiral and Empordà also have a spa and restaurant. For practice during your stay, Golf de Pals, Golf Girona and Par3 Pitch&Putt Gualta have academies; the Gualta club also has a driving range. These facilities let you include practice alongside your rounds when choosing where to play.
