Camiral, the Quinta do Lago Girona resort

For a golf stay in the Costa Brava area, Camiral, the Quinta do Lago Girona resort, brings together two 18-hole courses and a choice of accommodation. It is in Caldes de Malavella, in Girona province, Catalonia. Formerly PGA Catalunya, the resort opened in 1999 and has since developed an international reputation.

Golf is the starting point, but the wider offering includes two hotels, a Wellness Centre and residential properties. That combination makes the facilities beyond the fairways relevant when planning a trip, particularly with companions who do not play.

Two courses, 36 holes

Neil Coles MBE and Ángel Gallardo designed both courses. The Stadium Course dates from the resort’s opening year, while the Tour Course followed in 2005, bringing the total to 36 holes.

Stadium Course

Opened in 1999, the Stadium Course has 18 holes and a par of 73. Its mountain setting is a defining part of its surroundings. It is also the course associated with the beginning of the resort’s history.

Tour Course

The Tour Course opened in 2005 and has 18 holes. With the same design partnership behind it, it gives visitors a second course to include in a golf stay at Camiral.

Practice and golf facilities

The Golf Hub and driving range provide the resort’s practice facilities, alongside an academy for golf tuition. There is also a clubhouse and a pro shop. These services sit alongside the two courses, allowing practice and instruction to form part of a visit as well as rounds of golf.

Staying at the resort

The two hotels are Hotel Camiral and Hotel LAVIDA. Holiday rentals offer another accommodation option, while residential properties are also part of the wider resort.

Away from golf, the Wellness Centre and spa add a wellbeing element to a stay. Tennis, padel and a kids’ club broaden the activities available, giving travelling parties options beyond the courses and practice facilities.
