About the club

On a hillside in Sotogrande, beside Los Alcornocales Natural Park, The Alto Golf Club Sotogrande brings together three different golf formats. The club is in San Roque, in the province of Cádiz, within Andalusia’s Costa del Sol area. For a visiting golfer, its appeal lies in the choice between a full-length course, a par-3 layout and pitch & putt, with practice facilities, dining and hotel accommodation also part of the offering.

Choose your round

The Alto Club

The main course has 18 holes in a woodland setting. Originally designed by Dave Thomas and later revised by Manuel Piñero, it rewards precision and creativity. Its hillside location and trees help define the setting, while the emphasis on thoughtful play gives golfers a reason to consider how they approach each situation rather than simply how they strike the ball.

The Par - 3

Designed by Manuel Piñero, the nine-hole par-3 course is intended to support technical development for players of different levels. It gives the club a distinct option for golfers who want their round to focus on that aspect of their game, alongside the experience offered by the main course.

Pitch & Putt

The 18-hole Pitch & Putt is also a Manuel Piñero design. It completes the club’s three-course offering, adding another format to consider when deciding what sort of golf to include in a visit.

Learning and practice

The club’s state-of-the-art golf academy is led by Suzann Pettersen, a former Solheim Cup captain. The Toptracer driving range provides a further practice option. Together with the par-3 course, these facilities make technical development a substantial part of the club’s offering, rather than leaving the visit centred solely on the main 18 holes.

For a golf-focused stay, that combination provides a choice between playing a course and spending time on practice, according to the purpose of the visit.

Dining and accommodation

Away from the courses, the club includes The Society clubhouse, Restaurante Society and The Alto Café. Accommodation is provided by SO/ Sotogrande Spa & Golf Resort.

These facilities allow golf, dining and a hotel stay to form part of the same visit. Whether the priority is the woodland course or technical work, the wider offering gives travellers more to consider when planning their time in Sotogrande.
