About the area

Golf on the Costa de Almería is spread across three municipalities in the province of Almería, Andalucía: Pulpí, Cuevas del Almanzora and El Ejido. The area has three published clubs with 63 holes between them. For a visiting golfer, the choice includes two 18-hole courses and a 27-hole venue, so it is worth considering both the golf and the location when deciding where to stay.

Choosing where to play

Aguilón Golf in Pulpí has an 18-hole, par-70 course designed by Stirling & Martin Golf Architects. It is the option to consider if you want to include a named architectural practice in your golfing itinerary.

In Cuevas del Almanzora, Desert Spring Resort has the 18-hole Campo Indiana. Golf Almerimar, in El Ejido, offers 27 holes, the largest number at any of the three published clubs. That gives you a different scale of venue to weigh up alongside the two 18-hole options, without needing to build your trip around a single club.

If you intend to play all three, use their municipalities as the starting point for planning your journeys. Choosing your base with your intended rounds in mind is more useful than treating the Costa de Almería as a single golfing location.

Practice and time at the club

All three clubs have a clubhouse. For a trip that combines rounds with tuition, both Desert Spring Resort and Golf Almerimar list an academy. Desert Spring Resort also has a driving range and restaurant, bringing practice, play and a meal together at the same venue.

Those facilities can help shape the pace of your visit. You might prioritise an academy alongside your rounds, or focus on sampling the courses across the three municipalities. The main decision is how to balance time playing with travel between your chosen clubs.
