About the club

Aguilón Golf brings together desert scenery, mountain terrain and sea views in Pulpí, in the province of Almería. Part of Andalusia’s Costa de Almería, the club has an 18-hole, par-70 course designed by Stirling & Martin Golf Architects and opened in 2008.

For a golfer planning a visit, its defining feature is the combination of coastal outlook and rugged surroundings. Natural ravines are incorporated into the course, alongside six lakes and more than 100 bunkers. The setting is as much about the mountain and desert landscape as it is about the sea.

The landscape and the course

The natural ravines are part of the layout rather than simply a feature of the surrounding scenery. Together with the mountain terrain, they establish the course’s desert character, while views towards the sea place it firmly in its coastal setting.

Water also forms part of that picture. Six lakes sit within a course that includes more than 100 bunkers, bringing several different types of obstacle into the same layout. These are the main features to keep in mind when considering Aguilón Golf: a par-70 course where natural landforms, lakes and bunkers all contribute to its identity.

Choosing your tees

Five sets of tees provide different total playing lengths. The published distances, all in metres, are:

  • Black tees: 6,012 metres.
  • White tees: 5,756 metres.
  • Yellow tees: 5,099 metres.
  • Blue tees: 4,503 metres.
  • Red tees: 4,147 metres.

For visitors comparing courses before travelling, those figures give a clearer reference than the par alone. Black is the longest option and red the shortest, with white, yellow and blue offering the distances in between. The choice of tees therefore changes the overall length of the round while retaining the same 18-hole, par-70 layout.

Club facilities and location

The club has a clubhouse, which is also covered in a separate entry in this guide. It is the facility listed alongside the golf course.

When placing Aguilón Golf within a wider golf trip, the location to look for is Pulpí on the Costa de Almería, in Andalusia. Its combination of desert landscape, natural ravines and sea views gives a clear sense of the setting, while the five tee options provide the practical distance references for planning a round.
