About the club
Val de Rois brings together a nine-hole golf course, practice facilities and a clubhouse in the municipality of Rois, in Galicia’s A Coruña province. For a visiting golfer, its defining feature is the contrast between an easy walk and a course whose main challenge is its length. Beyond the course, there is a golf academy, a shop and a restaurant.
The course and its origins
The club opened in 1994 following an initiative by local golf enthusiasts and the municipal council. It began with six holes and later developed into the nine-hole layout played today. That shared local initiative is the starting point of the club’s history, with the expansion shaping its present course.
The terrain is flat and comfortable to walk. Length, rather than the physical demands of walking the ground, is the principal difficulty identified with the layout. The listed distances are 5,576 metres from the yellow tees and 5,304 metres from the red tees.
Those two characteristics are useful when considering a round here: a comfortable walk does not necessarily mean an undemanding golf course. At Val de Rois, the flat ground makes walking straightforward, while distance provides the main playing challenge across the nine-hole layout.
Practice facilities and academy
The driving range has nine bays and measures 240 metres in length. Alongside the course, it provides a separate space for practising longer shots, whether practice is the focus of the visit or part of time spent at the club.
There is also a nine-hole putting green, measuring 35 metres long and covering 500 square metres. Together, the range and putting green provide distinct areas for working on shots and putting. The golf academy is another part of the club’s facilities, alongside these dedicated practice spaces.
Time at the clubhouse
The clubhouse has a social lounge, a spacious restaurant and three terraces. These give the club a social side beyond the fairways, with both indoor spaces and terraces forming part of the clubhouse facilities.
A golf shop completes the services available. With the course, academy, practice areas and restaurant all part of Val de Rois, a visit can include more than the round itself: there is also scope for practice and time at the clubhouse.
