Donald Steel’s layout has 18 holes and a par of 71. Golf World places it among the three best courses in the Canary Islands. Its coastal setting and ocean views are defining features, with the island’s vegetation forming part of the landscape throughout the golf experience.

There are four sets of tees, with the following total lengths:

• White: 6,343 metres.
• Yellow: 5,841 metres.
• Red: 5,391 metres.
• Green: 4,668 metres.

These distances give visiting golfers a useful starting point when deciding which tees to play, rather than judging the course by its longest measurement alone.

Staying, dining and time away from golf

The property has five restaurants, five bars and a tasca. Room service runs from 08:00 to 22:00, serving breakfast as well as hot and cold dishes, so eating in the room is another option during a stay.

Away from golf, facilities include padel and tennis courts, a spa, a beach club and a kids’ club. Event services are also available. This broader offering is worth considering for a trip with companions who do not play, or when planning time between rounds.

Island connections and water reuse

The Olsen family’s activity on La Gomera began in 1904; construction of the hotel started in the 1980s. These are two distinct stages in the family’s connection with the island.

The hotel also contributes directly to the course’s irrigation. Its wastewater, excluding that from Club Laurel, is treated and reused to water Tecina Golf, giving the property’s treated water a further use on the golf course.
