About the club

Golf El Rompido brings together two 18-hole courses and a resort in Cartaya, in the province of Huelva, Andalusia. This part of the Costa de la Luz is home to the protected natural surroundings of the Río Piedras marshes, which provide the setting for the club. Nature surrounds the courses, with no residential developments around them.

For a golfer planning a stay, the combination is worth noting: 36 holes, a hotel, dining and practice facilities, plus a range of other sports and leisure amenities. Both courses are par 72, but they opened at different stages in the club’s development.

The two courses

Campo Sur

Campo Sur was the club’s first course. Designed by Álvaro Arana and opened in 2003, it has 18 holes and a par of 72. It represents the starting point of Golf El Rompido, before the addition of a second full-length layout.

Campo Norte

Campo Norte followed in 2006, adding another 18 holes, also par 72. In 2026, Top 100 Golf Courses included it among the hundred best courses in Spain, giving visiting golfers a specific point of reference when considering the club.

Together, Norte and Sur make up the club’s 36-hole offering. Their shared setting in the natural surroundings of the marshes, without housing developments around the courses, is a defining feature of the destination.

Staying and spending time at the resort

Accommodation is provided by Hotel Precise Golf Resort El Rompido. Having a hotel within the complex makes the resort relevant not only as a golf stop but also as a place to stay while spending time at the courses.

The club has a clubhouse and a driving range. Dining options include Restaurante La Terraza as well as the resort’s restaurants and bars, and events are also part of the club’s services.

Away from golf, the resort offers a swimming pool and spa. Its sports facilities extend to four padel courts, two tennis courts and a natural-grass football pitch.

The overall offer therefore reaches beyond the two courses: accommodation, dining, practice and other sports are all part of the same destination. For visitors looking at Huelva’s Costa de la Luz, Golf El Rompido combines that breadth of facilities with its setting in the protected surroundings of the Río Piedras marshes.
