About the club

Mar Menor Golf brings together an 18-hole course, practice facilities and accommodation beside the fairways in the Region of Murcia. Close to Torre-Pacheco, in the Mar Menor area, it offers the ingredients for either a visit to play a round or a longer stay built around golf.

Opened in 2005, it was the first Polaris World golf course in the Mar Menor area. Dave Thomas and Nicklaus Design are credited with the design of the par-72 layout. For visitors planning their golf, the key features are its choice of tee distances, a notable stretch beside a lake and the opportunity to set aside time for practice.

The course and its lake

The course measures 6,153 metres from the white tees, 5,801 metres from yellow and 5,101 metres from red. These figures provide a useful starting point when considering which tees to play, rather than judging the course by its longest measurement alone.

The lake surrounding holes 13, 14 and 15 is a particularly distinctive obstacle. This sequence is known locally as “amen corner”, with water forming a prominent feature across the three holes. It is the section to keep in mind when getting acquainted with the layout before a round.

Together, the tee measurements and this lakeside stretch give a straightforward first impression of Mar Menor Golf: a full 18-hole course with different playing lengths and a clearly identifiable water feature.

Make time for practice

There is an academy as well as a driving range, putting and chipping greens. A separate hole for practice and training adds another option beyond the range and short-game areas.

These facilities are worth factoring into a golf visit, whether you want to spend time putting, work on shots around the green or use the driving range. The practice hole also provides a dedicated space for training away from the main round.

Staying beside the course

A five-star hotel and apartments stand next to the course, with options for short and longer stays. For a golfer travelling to the Mar Menor area, this allows accommodation and golf to form part of the same stay rather than treating the course solely as a stop for a round.
