About the club
Salamanca Golf & Country Club brings together two 18-hole courses in Castilla y León: Villamayor, close to Salamanca, and Zarapicos, in the province’s dehesa countryside. For a visitor planning golf around the city, the distinction is useful: one course has an urban setting, while the other is rooted in the surrounding rural landscape.
The club has bases at both locations. Zarapicos was founded in 1990 and Villamayor in 1999, giving the club two courses from different periods, by different designers. Alongside golf, its facilities include a restaurant, events, a swimming pool, a sauna and an equestrian centre.
Villamayor: ten minutes from central Salamanca
Villamayor is an urban course ten minutes from Salamanca’s city centre. That proximity makes it a practical option for visitors who want to keep their golf close to the city rather than make it a separate countryside outing.
Designed by Juan Catarineu, the 18-hole layout is noted for its length and high slope rating. Those are important characteristics when considering a round here: its urban location should not be mistaken for an indication of an undemanding course.
Zarapicos: golf in the dehesa
Zarapicos offers the contrasting setting of the Salamanca dehesa. Manuel Piñero designed the course in 1990, and it marked its 35th anniversary in 2025.
The club presents Zarapicos as a course connected to history, landscape and tradition. That sense of place is central to its identity and distinguishes it from Villamayor. Playing both means getting to know the two settings that shape the club, as well as two different course designers’ work.
Beyond the two courses
The club’s golf services include an academy and a golf shop. Its restaurant, events, swimming pool and sauna extend the facilities beyond the round itself, offering a broader picture of what the club brings together across its two bases.
Zarapicos also has an equestrian centre, Hípica La Barrosa G.S. Its activities and services include horse boarding, riding lessons and horseback rides. For visitors interested in more than golf, this is another part of the Zarapicos offering to know about.
Club competitions and traditions
The Winter League combines team Match Play with a Final Four and placing matches. It provides a different view of the club from an individual round, with team competition at its centre.
The Three Kings tournament adds a social tradition to the golf: participants share hot chocolate and roscón, the traditional Three Kings cake. Together, these events reflect both the competitive and social sides of club life.
