Rioja Alta Golf Club

A round at Rioja Alta Golf Club can be part of a wider visit to La Rioja. Set in Cirueña among centuries-old oaks, farmland and vineyards, the club suggests pairing its 18 holes with a visit and tasting at a local winery that is itself more than a century old.

For a travelling golfer, that gives the day a focus beyond the scorecard: golf and wine in the same area. The club also has practice facilities, a golf academy and Restaurante Los Robles, bringing several elements of a golf visit together in one place.

The 18-hole course

Designed by Enrique Saenger, the main course has 18 holes and a par of 72. The grounds cover 75 hectares and include a practice area, putting green and approach area alongside the course.

The surrounding oaks, crops and vineyards give the setting its local character. This is a course in La Rioja’s agricultural landscape, with the winery visit offering a way to explore another aspect of the area as part of the same outing.

A full round is the starting point for the club’s golf-and-wine suggestion. For visitors organising a day around the course, the combination brings together the 18-hole layout and a tasting at a long-established local winery.

Practice and Pitch & Putt

The practice area, putting green and approach area provide spaces for different parts of the game. They complement the main course, whether practice is a separate part of the visit or included in a day centred on an 18-hole round.

Green Pitch & Putt tees have been available since 2024. The club also has a P&P course approved by the Royal Spanish Golf Federation, RFEG. Pitch & Putt therefore sits alongside the par-72 course as another part of the club’s golf offering.

Academy, restaurant and wine

The golf academy and Restaurante Los Robles complete the club’s facilities. Each has its own page in the guide, separate from this overview of the club and its courses.

When putting together a visit to Cirueña, the distinctive combination to consider is the one the club proposes: 18 holes followed by a winery visit and tasting. It connects the golf course with the vineyards in the surrounding landscape and gives the outing a distinctly La Rioja focus.
