About the club
Norba Club de Golf in Cáceres, Extremadura, combines an 18-hole course with a broader range of sporting and family facilities. For a visiting golfer, the course’s defining feature is its change of character: a valley with wide fairways gives way to a hillside where the holes become narrower and more demanding.
Designed by Carlos Corsini and opened in 1993, the par-72 layout measures 6,044 metres and occupies 60 hectares. Lakes and varied vegetation shape the setting, with the course noted for both its difficulty and the way it fits into its surroundings.
A round of two contrasting halves
The opening nine holes run through a valley. Here, wide fairways sit alongside water hazards and a varied mix of vegetation. The space available is part of this half’s character, but so is the presence of water throughout the landscape.
Holes 10 to 18 move onto a hillside with holm oaks and cork oaks. Narrower fairways and irregularly shaped lakes distinguish this stretch from the opening holes. This is the more difficult half of the course, making the transition from valley to hillside an important part of the round.
Rather than offering the same setting throughout, Norba brings together two distinct types of terrain. That contrast is worth bearing in mind when considering the course: the broad fairways of the first nine do not tell the whole story of its challenge.
Competitive golf and recognition
Norba has hosted the Spanish Under-18 Girls’ Championship. Leadingcourses also placed it among Spain’s top 30 courses, with a score of 8.5 among 401 courses assessed.
The club’s recognition extends beyond sport. It received honorary member status for its ongoing collaboration with the Asociación Nuestra Señora de la Misericordia, reflecting a continuing connection with the association.
Facilities beyond golf
A clubhouse, restaurant and golf academy form part of the club’s facilities. Padel, tennis and swimming pools add other sporting options, giving visitors more to consider than the course alone.
For those visiting with children, the club also has a kids’ club and childcare facilities. Events and celebrations are part of its offering too. Taken together, these facilities give Norba a broader club setting, with activities for golfers and accompanying visitors as well as the challenge of its 18 holes.
