About the club

Miño Club de Golf is in the municipality of Miño, in Galicia’s A Coruña province. Its Miño Artabro course has 18 holes, plays to par 71 and was designed by Francisco López Segalés. For a visitor getting to know the course, the main distinction is between its two halves: a more technical opening nine through woodland and a flatter back nine with lakes guarding two greens.

The club also brings together golf practice facilities, places to eat and other sports facilities. This gives visitors more to consider than the course alone when planning their time at the club.

Woodland golf beside the Xarío

The front nine passes through woodland crossed by the River Xarío. This is the more technical half of the course, with the trees and river defining its setting. Rather than maintaining the same character throughout all 18 holes, Miño Artabro moves from this wooded opening stretch to different terrain on the inward nine.

That contrast is a useful starting point for understanding the layout. The river belongs to the woodland section, while the course’s other notable water features come later in the round.

A flatter back nine

The second half is flatter than the first. Two lakes protect the greens at the 15th and 16th holes, bringing water into focus again towards the end of the round. These are specific features to bear in mind when looking at the course: the change to flatter ground does not mean leaving water behind.

Together, the two nines give the layout its contrasting settings, from the woodland crossed by the Xarío to the lakes beside those late greens.

How the course developed

The first nine holes opened in July 2007. A further nine were added a year later, completing the current 18-hole course. Its opening date therefore marks the first stage of a development that took place in two phases.

Facilities beyond the round

The club has a restaurant and café, as well as a shop and driving range. Swimming pools and padel courts add alternatives to golf.

For golfers travelling with others, these facilities are worth noting alongside the course itself. Food, golf practice, swimming and padel are all represented within the club’s offering in Miño.
