Marriott Golf Son Antem

For a golf stay in Mallorca, Marriott Golf Son Antem brings together two 18-hole courses and accommodation in Llucmajor. The club is 10 minutes from the airport and 15 minutes from Palma, with easy access from the motorway. That location puts both courses within a short drive of the capital, whether you are staying at Son Antem or visiting for a round.

Choosing your course

Francisco Lopez-Segalés designed both courses, each a par 72. Son Antem East opened in 1994 and has four sets of tees, spanning 4,832 to 6,251 metres. The full distances are:

• Black tees: 6,251 metres.
• White tees: 5,853 metres.
• Yellow tees: 5,240 metres.
• Red tees: 4,832 metres.

Son Antem West followed in 2001 and is the more demanding layout. Its back nine is technical, with greens defended by bunkers and water hazards. Three lakes come into play on five holes, making water a consideration at several stages of the round.

West also has four sets of tees, but the colours and distances differ from those on East:

• White tees: 6,293 metres.
• Yellow tees: 5,913 metres.
• Blue tees: 5,395 metres.
• Red tees: 5,007 metres.

The shared designer, hole count and par do not make the two layouts interchangeable. Check the course and tee distances when planning your golf; West is the choice for the greater challenge within the club.

Staying, eating and time away from golf

Accommodation is available at Marriott’s Club Son Antem, while La Terrassa is the complex’s restaurant. For visitors putting together a stay around their rounds, these sit alongside the golf academy, pro shop and clubhouse.

The wider facilities include a spa and fitness offering, tennis and padel, as well as event services. There are therefore options beyond the fairways, both for golfers spending more time at the complex and for travelling companions who want other activities.

Equipment for wheelchair golfers

Through its collaboration with Handisport Foundation, Son Antem offers two ParaGolfers for hire to help wheelchair users play golf. This is a practical provision to keep in mind when planning a visit that requires this equipment.

The club also hosted the first IWGOC in November 2018. The event brought together 40 wheelchair golfers from 22 countries, adding an international competition to Son Antem’s involvement in this area.
