About the club
Lo Romero Golf is an 18-hole, par-72 course in Pilar de la Horadada, in Alicante province, within Spain’s Valencian Community. For golfers considering a visit to the Costa Blanca, it offers a parkland layout with four sets of tees, alongside an academy, driving range, shop and dining facilities. The course opened in 2008.
Its defining feature comes at the end of the round. The 18th green is almost entirely surrounded by water, giving the club its nickname, “The Golf Island”. The name refers to this distinctive finishing green rather than to the setting of the whole course.
The course and its setting
Pines, carob trees, palms and wild rosemary form the landscape through which the course runs. That combination gives Lo Romero an identity beyond its island-green finish: this is a parkland round set among trees and Mediterranean vegetation, with the water-framed final green providing a contrasting closing image.
There is one 18-hole course, with a par of 72. When comparing it with other Costa Blanca courses, the tee measurements offer a useful starting point alongside the landscape and the appearance of the last hole.
Choosing your playing distance
The four sets of tees have the following course lengths:
- White tees: 6,256 metres.
- Yellow tees: 6,082 metres.
- Blue tees: 5,639 metres.
- Red tees: 5,276 metres.
These figures let you consider the distance you want to play before choosing your tees. The red tees provide the shortest listed version of the course and the whites the longest, with blue and yellow supplying the two intermediate options. All four measurements relate to the same parkland layout and its 18-hole round.
Practice, learning and dining
Beyond the course, Lo Romero has a golf academy and a driving range. Each has its own entry in this guide, as does the shop, so visitors can explore those parts of the club separately from the main course overview.
The dining facilities are listed as a café and terrace, plus a restaurant, also with their own guide entries. Together, these facilities bring practice, tuition, shopping and places to eat into the club’s offering. For a golf visit based around Pilar de la Horadada, the combination to note is the tree-lined course, a choice of four playing distances and the almost water-enclosed green that closes the round.
