Golf Costa Daurada Tarragona Sports Center

Five minutes from Tarragona, Golf Costa Daurada Tarragona Sports Center brings together a full-length golf course and an 18-hole pitch & putt layout in El Catllar. Set within 40 hectares of natural surroundings, the complex also offers padel, tennis, fitness, swimming and cycling services, giving visitors plenty to do alongside their golf.

The club began in the late 1970s as a nine-hole course. Expansion to 18 holes and the creation of a practice area form part of its development into a broader sports and social centre.

Choosing your round

The main course has 18 holes and a par of 72 in a Mediterranean setting. Technical holes featuring water, dog-legs and bunkers sit alongside links-style holes, bringing different layouts into the same round. The club hosts amateur golf competitions as part of its sporting calendar.

For pitch & putt, the separate 18-hole course runs for almost 1,400 metres through wooded surroundings, with the Mediterranean as its backdrop. It has hosted both the Open Internacional de Catalunya de Pitch & Putt and the Campeonato de Catalunya Dobles.

Competition is not the only focus of the pitch & putt calendar. Night-time tournaments also combine play with food and social gatherings.

Practice and equipment

Golfers have access to an academy, driving range, putting greens and an approach practice area. A refurbished practice bunker has been redesigned to recreate situations encountered on the course. Golf equipment and vehicles are available to hire.

Food and the clubhouse

The clubhouse occupies a traditional Catalan farmhouse and houses a restaurant specialising in Catalan cooking. The wider dining offering also includes Flamingo, serving Mediterranean cuisine and drawing on more than three decades of restaurant experience, as well as a café and bar.

An outdoor terrace looks towards both the sea and the mountains. Seasonal food offerings accompany some of the club's sporting and social events, making dining part of the experience beyond the course.

Other ways to spend the day

The complex has panoramic padel courts, tennis, a gym and children's spaces. In spring and summer, its outdoor saltwater pool offers another activity away from golf. Measuring 25 by 8 metres, it has four swimming lanes and is surrounded by nature and shaded areas.

Cyclists can use the Bike Point for bicycle hire, repairs and maintenance, model testing and secure storage. Parking at the complex is free.

Water and materials

The club's water-saving initiatives include renewing the turf with Bermuda grass and remodelling the lake at the 18th hole to improve irrigation efficiency. It has also reused almost 1,300 kilograms of discarded plastic to build a protective shelter in the practice area.
