About the club
Around 25 minutes by car from central Barcelona, Club de Golf Vallromanes combines an 18-hole course with a clubhouse whose history reaches well beyond golf. The club is in Vallromanes, in Barcelona province, Catalonia. For golfers travelling from the city, the driving time provides a useful starting point for planning a visit.
F. W. Hawtree designed and built the course in 1972. The clubhouse occupies Torre Tabernera, a mansion built in 1718 on the site of an old castle. These two dates frame the club: an established golf layout alongside a much older building.
The course and its tees
The course has 18 holes and a par of 72. Four sets of tees provide the following measured lengths:
- White tees: 6,044 metres.
- Yellow tees: 5,857 metres.
- Blue tees: 5,244 metres.
- Red tees: 5,075 metres.
The white tees give the longest version of the course, while the red tees provide the shortest of the four listed distances. Yellow tees come in below six kilometres, with blue tees sitting between yellow and red. These figures are useful when considering the length of a round rather than relying on the par alone.
Practice and learning
The putting green has 18 practice holes and two platforms, separate from the main 18-hole course. It adds a dedicated putting facility to the club’s golf provision.
There is also a golf academy and a children’s club. Together, these services give visitors more to consider than the course itself when looking at what Vallromanes offers for golf and family activities.
The historic clubhouse
Torre Tabernera houses the clubhouse. Built as a mansion in 1718 over an old castle, it is the historical counterpart to Hawtree’s 1972 course. The club also has Kaliu Restaurant and an events service, alongside its academy and children’s club.
Summer swimming
A 35-metre swimming pool adds a seasonal element to the facilities. It is open for use from 15 June to 15 September, so those dates are worth noting if swimming is part of the planned visit.
For a stay based in Barcelona, the club brings together golf, practice facilities, a restaurant and summer swimming within the stated drive from the city centre.
