About the club
For a golf visit to Mallorca, Club de Golf Alcanada offers a coastal setting in the municipality of Alcúdia. The bay of Alcúdia is visible from almost every hole, with mountains and the Alcanada lighthouse also shaping the outlook. It is Mallorca’s only golf course situated beside the coast.
The lighthouse stands on the island of Alcanada, around 150 metres offshore, and features in the club’s emblem. Alongside the sea views, the course has a woodland setting that gives the round a distinctly different backdrop from the open water beyond it.
The course and tees
Robert Trent Jones Jr. designed the 18-hole, par-72 course, which opened in 2003. Its combination of trees, coastal views and mountain scenery is central to the experience, with the bay remaining in sight through almost the whole round.
There are four sets of tees:
- White: 6,499 metres.
- Yellow: 6,152 metres.
- Blue: 5,645 metres.
- Red: 5,241 metres.
These distances are useful when planning your round and choosing where to play from. They also give a clear picture of the range of playing lengths available without changing the course’s coastal and woodland setting.
Lessons and practice
Golfers looking to include tuition in their visit can use the Lighthouse Golf Academy, which provides personalised lessons and instruction for different levels. It adds a teaching option alongside the main course, whether the focus of the visit is a round or time spent working on the game.
In 2022, Alcanada installed Mallorca’s first driving range equipped with Toptracer technology. The range and academy give visitors ways to spend time on their golf beyond the 18 holes.
Beyond the round
The club has a restaurant, the Lighthouse Bar halfway stop, a clubhouse and changing rooms. Its pro shop occupies a century-old building, adding a point of architectural interest to the natural setting. Events and tournaments are also part of the club’s offering.
Alcanada’s sustainability projects include beehives and donkeys used to help care for the surroundings. Electric vehicle charging stations are available too. These practical and environmental initiatives sit alongside the golf facilities at a club whose identity is closely tied to its coastal landscape.
