About the club

Asociación de Golf Villa de El Escorial brings together two nine-hole courses in the Sierra de Guadarrama, in the Madrid region. Set at the foot of Monte Abantos, the club has views of the Monastery of San Lorenzo de El Escorial. For a golfer exploring courses around Madrid, that mountain setting is a defining part of the club’s identity.

The association is in the municipality of El Escorial, in the province of Madrid. It was founded in 1994 to encourage affordable golf in a spirit of companionship. Its beginnings were closely tied to its founding members, who also designed the original course.

Two courses, two formats

The main course opened in 1994, the same year the association was established. It has nine holes and a par of 29. This is the club’s original layout, distinct from the Pitch & Putt added later.

The listed lengths for the main course’s tees are:

  • White: 2,872 metres.
  • Yellow: 2,704 metres.
  • Blue: 2,272 metres.
  • Red: 2,272 metres.

White is the longest of the listed tee options, followed by yellow; blue and red share the same length. These figures provide a way to compare the tee colours when looking at the main course. They belong to that layout rather than to the separate Pitch & Putt.

The Pitch & Putt

A nine-hole, par-27 Pitch & Putt became part of the club in 2017. Its arrival expanded the association’s golf offering beyond the course designed by the founding members.

Both layouts have nine holes, but their formats and pars differ. When considering a visit, the useful distinction is between the original par-29 course and the par-27 Pitch & Putt. The latter is an addition to the original layout, not a replacement for it.

A setting beneath Monte Abantos

The club’s surroundings bring together the Sierra de Guadarrama, Monte Abantos and views towards the monastery. Those geographical references place it firmly in this part of the Madrid region and give context to a round here.

Alongside that setting is the association’s founding purpose: making golf affordable and fostering companionship. The combination of a member-designed original course and a later Pitch & Putt reflects the development of a project that began in 1994.
